We appreciate your ongoing commitment and support to our wonderful community theater! At the Bay St. Louis Little Theatre, we believe the theater art lights up your brain and delights your heart. We want to continue to improve and contribute to that endeavor. We realize that none of the work we do would be possible without our supporters like you!
Next year we will celebrate our 10th year in our new theater. In those ten years of performances, we have experienced so much support, success, and positive recognition. We have won many awards, including the Mississippi Arts Commission Governor’s Award for Excellence in Arts, the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce Award for Community Excellence, and the Bay St. Louis Historic Preservation Commission People’s Choice Award. We have maintained a healthy membership and have a wonderful reputation of excellent shows.
We have achieved all of this in spite of probably being the only theater to ever have a column in the midst of the stage. There is good reason for this. When the Little Theatre was in discussions with the Department of Archives and History to obtain a substantial grant that would lead to the construction of our new Little Theatre building, we were mandated by the rules of the grant to preserve the integrity of the building. The MDAH considered that column part of the integrity of the building. If we removed it, it would jeopardize funding for reconstruction. So we accepted the mandates and the grant and built our award-winning theater.
Recently, we requested that the MDAH revisit its decision to maintain the column on the stage. This time – we have received the approval to remove the column!!! We can do it!!!
This is to inform you of the formation of the Clearview Club which will be the made of the donors contributing to the removal of our stage column. We have design and engineering ready to go. We need to raise $33,000 to perform this feat and we have already raised $10,000. Please consider joining us and become a member of the Clearview Club to complete this construction for the upcoming 2019-2020 season.
