Little Theatre Announces Upcoming Season

The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre Guild, the play selection committee, met recently to decide the upcoming season of shows and events. The season roster was submitted last week to the Theatre’s Board of Directors for approval. The Board of Directors have approved and announced the 2011-2012 Little Theatre season. The Theatre season has an expanded agenda which is a change from the traditional schedule in past decades. The new Little Theatre allows for a variety of shows from traditional theatre to dance halls to dinner theater to concerts because of the capability to change the seating format.

The following are the season shows that are included in the membership. The new season will open with the Pulitzer Prize winner “Driving Miss Daisy” on September 16th. It will be directed by Art Bailey, Jr. This show has many outstanding accolades and was made into a movie which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1989. Then opening November 11th will be the hilarious comedy “Men of Stone” directed by Larry Clark. The annual Tennessee Williams’ tribute will stage one of the most famous shows written by the writer, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” directed by Larry Clark. The season will end with another comedy from the “Greater Tuna” series entitled “Tuna Does Vegas” directed by Glenda Schornick.

Along with the season show line-up, the membership will also include entry to the Little Theatre Backyard Movie Series which has scheduled “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” to celebrate Halloween on October 29th.

The new season will continue the Valentine’s dinner theater “A Valentine’s Night to Remember”, a Christmas show, a weekend of one-acts, and the August mystery dinner theater. The Board will form a committee to plan a celebration for the one year anniversary of the new theater opening to take place on October 1st.
