The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre has scheduled auditions for its 2017-2018 season opener “Nine to Five” a parody comedy based on the screenplay by Colin Higgins and Patricia Resnick. Auditions will be held on Thursday, July 6 at 6:30pm and Saturday, July 8 at 11am. The Theatre is located at 398 Blaize Avenue in the Depot District. The casting calls for 9 female adults and 8 male adults of all ages. All are welcome to audition.
“Nine to Five” was a critically acclaimed 1980 comedy that starred Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton, and Dabney Coleman. The movie parody will provide many of the hilarious moments that were on screen. The story tells of Violet Newstead who is stuck at a dead end job working under a boss that she trained. She is at her wit’s end. When the boss’ good natured secretary and a new hire have also had enough, their revenge fantasy becomes a comedic reality in a scheme that wildly spins out of control.
Auditions will require readings from the “Nine to Five” script which will be provided at the audition. Usually for every BSLLT show, there are cast members experiencing their first performance on stage. Every show provides an opportunity to involve beginning actors with veteran actors.
“Nine to Five” opens on September 15th.
